As you may remember from my last blog post (The Beginning of Something New: Positive Energy Psychology), I recently had an epiphany about how to do EFT in a whole new way that feels much more uplifting and empowering.  I realized that we don’t necessarily need to focus on negative phrases, ideas, and memories in the way that EFT traditionally does.  Although I love EFT and find it a very effective tool when I’m feeling intense negative emotion, I’ve never really liked its negative focus as a regular daily practice and I finally realized that this inner resistance was telling me something.  There is another way. About a month and a half ago, I had this inspiration come to me about a wonderful new way we can use Energy Psychology to help ourselves to feel really good and achieve what we really want in our lives.  I realized that we could use EFT in a whole new way by essentially focusing on positive phrases we want to anchor in our consciousness and touching the points rather than tapping on them.  This method feels really good and seems to work even better than EFT as a daily practice.  I call it Positive Energy Psychology (or PEP for short) and it truly has been a breakthrough for me. Is there something that you really love to do but you find that you rarely make the time to do it?   I think that’s true for many creative, sensitive people.   In this video, I talk about why I think we do this and what we can do about it.

We know that we really do love doing things like writing, art, singing, dance, theater, etc. but we let our desire for perfection hold us back from exploring these things more deeply in our lives.

Although the pursuit of excellence is a noble goal, we really do need to let go of expecting ourselves to be perfect right out of the gate. Except for a few rare exceptions like Mozart, successful creative people don’t usually start out with perfection. If we expect that of ourselves, we will never give ourselves the opportunity to make it through the awkward beginnings stages of exploring our creativity. It takes a willingness to do something badly to eventually get to the place where we do it very well.

In this video, I’ll walk you through an EFT process to help you let go of those expectations of perfection so that you can explore and have fun with your creativity in whatever way you are inspired. From my own experience, when I give myself permission to not be perfect, I’m often surprised at how well things turn out. Plus, I have a lot more fun. And when it comes down to it, that’s why we really want to do these creative things: because we just feel so good when we’re doing them.

So, I hope this video helps you get to that place yourself. When you let go of that pressure to be perfect, you let yourself just enjoy expressing yourself as a creative being in whatever way you are inspired.
